How do I update a SARS registered representative?
A company must have an individual recorded as its registered representative. The representative can be updated through eFiling's registered-details process, including the RAV01 or SOQS route SARS provides. SARS may verify the request and says processing can take up to 21 business days.

The points that decide the answer
- The representative must have authority to act for the entity and their own tax profile must be usable.
- CIPC, SARS and supporting documents should show consistent entity and appointment details.
- A representative problem can prevent access to returns, tax types and compliance status.
- Changing an eFiling user role is not always the same as changing the SARS registered representative.
A practical way to handle it
- Confirm the current CIPC directors and registered details.
- Prepare the appointment resolution and identity evidence.
- Submit the update through the SARS channel shown for the entity.
- Track the case and answer verification requests promptly.
Common mistakes
- Uploading unreadable documents
- Using an old address or director list
- Assuming profile access proves representative status
What to keep on file
