Do I pay tax on crypto in South Africa?

Yes. Normal income-tax rules apply to crypto assets. Frequent or business-like trading gains may be revenue taxed at marginal rates, while genuine long-term investment gains may fall under CGT. Selling, swapping, spending or receiving crypto can all create a tax event, even when no rand is withdrawn to a bank.
